ENNIS - Early Saturday morning around 12:28 a.m., the Ennis Police Department was called out to the 1400 block of N. Cardinal to discover a man shot.

'A man was found lying on the ground with one shot in the buttocks,' said Detective Sergeant Mike Hopson of the Ennis Police Department.

According to the police report, it was believed the shooting occurred at a nearby apartment complex.

Marcus Lust, 22, of Ennis was taken by emergency medical personnel to Dallas where he was treated for his wound.

Hopson said a suspect was being questioned Monday, April 23 about the incident and was giving a different account of the events leading up to the shooting than what had actually happened.

Evidence was reported to be found outside on the ground and inside a house but nothing had been confirmed at this time.

The victim had been questioned by police and, according to Hopson, may be a suspect in another incident.

The name of the suspect being questioned was not released.

This was one of two shootings which occurred over the weekend in Ennis and was one of many which are occurring more frequently in the city.

It was not reported if any of the shootings were drug related, but at least one of the police reports did mention the possibility of marijuana being involved.
