WAXAHACHIE - Four men were taken into custody Monday night, Jan. 29 after Waxahachie patrol officer Donnie Garrett made contact with an occupied vehicle he observed parked beside Landmark Equipment at around 10:25 p.m.
The vehicle's occupants were in possession of gloves, bolt cutters, crowbars and a handheld radio, according to the police report.
Investigator Sgt. Todd Woodruff said, 'This business has been burglarized many times in the past and several of the men admitted they were preparing to burglarize the business.'
The four men were believed to be connected to a rash of business burglaries going on for some time in Waxahachie.
Police filed charges of engaging in organized criminal activity and unlawful possession of a criminal instrument against William E. Mercer, 43, of DeSoto; Kris Dale Johnson, 40, of Red Oak; Bruce Davis, 29, of Lancaster and Raymond Williams Jr, 39, of Dallas.
At press time, they remained in custody at the Wayne McCollum Detention Center, while the investigation was continuing.
Woodruff said these men have also been linked to burglaries in Dallas and Cedar Hill and several stolen firearms have been found.
