ENNIS - A 73-year-old man was killed in an accident with a motor vehicle Thursday, Jan. 25 while riding his three-wheel cycle.
The accident occurred at the corner of South Clay and West Madison streets at 6:50 in the morning.
While eastbound on Madison, Jose Cantero of Ennis was crossing Clay Street when he was struck by a 2005 GMC pickup truck driven by Gary Wayne Cochran, 48, also of Ennis.
Ennis Police Lt. Ron Roark said, 'Mr. Cochran was going north on Clay and there was another vehicle making the corner which blocked his view and he did not see Cantero.'
Cochran's pickup struck the tricycle, which failed to yield the right of way at the stop sign.
By the time police and emergency personnel responded, Cantero was found dead and was pronounced dead by the Justice of the Peace.
Roark went onto say, 'This was simply an accident, and that is all it was, and there will be no charges filed.'
The body was taken to the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.
