GLENN HEIGHTS - Two men died after what Glenn Heights police officials were calling an apparent murder and suicide in the 2700 block of La Jolla Court.

Police found Jason Saunders, 29 of Duncan-ville dead inside a residence when responding to a shots fired call about 12:41 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 3.

Hutchins resident Kevin Mayhew, 35, was transported to Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas were he died at 4:45 p.m. suffering from what officials called a self-inflicted single gunshot wound to the head.

'It appears the incident began as a domestic dispute between two parties and escalated,' Lt. Steve Perry of Glenn Heights Police Department.

Perry said Mayhew had gone to his ex-girlfriend's residence and banged on the door until she opened it.

Mayhew then forced his way into the house confronting Saunders, a friend of Mayhew's ex-girlfriend.

'The suspect then discharged a handgun that he had brought with him to the location striking Saunders and fatally wounding him,' Perry said.

'The suspect then turned the weapon on himself, apparently inflicting one single gunshot wound to the head.'
