ELLIS COUNTY - Area Girl Scouts will soon 'Step It Up' and kick off their 2007 cookie campaign.
As of Jan. 5, it will be that time of year again; and this time around the Girl Scouts of Tejas Council will be working extra hard to 'STEP' things up this year by striving for Success Through Energetic Participation.
This year's theme - 'Step It Up' - was designed to inspire Girl Scouts to take their cookie activity to the max with new enthusiasm—and by including fitness activities that can help girls strike a balance between the fun and tasty treats they sell and an active, healthy lifestyle.
Helping girls live healthy, balanced lifestyles is an important Girl Scout USA goal and this year's cookie sales campaign focuses on new ways to learn the rewards of being active and healthy.
And there's more that's new this year: This is the first year that all of the Girl Scouts cookie confections are made trans-fat free.
In addition, a new sugar-free cookie - Little Brownies - for cookie lovers will be introduced for those who are diabetic, watching their carb intake, or simply counting calories.
In line with this year's theme, the Girl Scouts are getting active with their cookie and food knowledge and they're encouraging everyone to do the same.
