RED OAK - In early December Red Oak will have a new newspaper representing the community.
The Ellis County Press Managing Editor Sheila Hatfield presented the paper, the Red Oak Record, to council members during Monday night's meeting.
'The Record will be a true-old-time newspaper that improves communication between businesses, the city and the community,' Hatfield said.
'A true community paper, unlike any other paper in the county - we're coming and we are doing it right.'
Hatfield was publisher of the North Ellis County Weekly Review in the mid-90s and said her dream has been to return to the city of Red Oak.
The Review was based out of the old downtown area in the train depot.
The new Record would also be in a downtown building at 123 S. Main St.
The doors of the office would open Dec. 1, with the first-ever issue of the Red Oak Record premiering on Thursday, Dec. 7. While the Record would be a sister paper to the 15-year old ECP, the Record would focus more on the community side of the news, with an emphasis on local individuals, business and organizations.
