RED OAK - After two years as the Red Oak Independent School District Superintendent, Craig Stockstill is retiring effective Nov. 30.

Stockstill has spent the last 32 years serving seven Texas school districts

'Together with the help of a dedicated staff and a supportive community we have improved our test scores, added new curriculum and increased our teachers' capacity to teach and care for our students,' Stockstill wrote in a Sept. 18 letter to school board members.

'We have emphasized staff development in the areas of technology, gifted and talented and aligning the curriculum.'

During the a meeting on Oct. 16, school board trustees decided to hire an interim superintendent until a formal search for a full-time superintendent could be conducted.

The interim superintendent would be required to possess a superintendent certification and preferably have experience.

Applications would be accepted until Tuesday, Oct. 24.
