Courthouse chairs ‘for sale’

WAXAHACHIE - The Ellis County Courthouse has chairs available for inscriptions - still.

The cost of the engraving - either by a business, dignitary, or individual - is $200, and can hold up to 22 letters and spaces.

'At the beginning of the restoration, it was thought that the benches were original seating,' said Holly Davis, an administrative assistant to county commissioners. 'Just under 100 chairs have already been sold, so there are still quite a few available.'

Application forms for the chairs can be picked up at the courthouse or Ellis County Museum across the street.

'It's a great way to recognize someone for their contribution to Ellis County,' Davis said. 'Or just for their every day life.'
