ELLIS COUNTY - Ellis County is going wireless.
With wireless high-speed internet connections that is.
Owner of two local based internet companies, www.ECTISP.net and 247365 Wireless Inc., Steven Greenwalt Jr. said he was constantly striving to provide his customers the best technology available to stay on the cutting edge in speed and internet performance, using only CISCO equipment.
As technology increases CISCO equipment will be able to add dial tone to service and video on demand.
Greenwalt is offering free internet service for families, companies or cities, who allow ECTISP to install relay towers on their property to bounce service from tower to tower.
He said he hoped to offer wireless service to the entire county as soon as he gets the new antenna towers installed.
Earlier this month Greenwalt and his employees installed an antenna on Palmer's water tower to provide wireless service for area clients with a range of five to six miles.
'There is no expense to the city,' Greenwalt said. 'They get free service and free equipment.'
The wireless service works based on a line of sight, according to Greenwalt.
As stated on the ECTISP website, the wireless technology allows clients in rural areas 'where telephone line based broadband services are non existent or not supported.'
Wireless service technology does not use the telephone lines traditionally utilized to surf the Internet, thereby, leaving the client's telephone line open to receive calls while online or the phone can be turned off.
The wireless service is up to 50 times faster than the old dial up speeds of 28.8k.
Greenwalt has been in business for seven years offering services ranging from dial-up to wireless with multiple service plans to serve residential or large corporate clients with ease.
Wireless service starts at $39.95 and the equipment is about $275.
