Grand openings held

ELLIS COUNTY - If new business openings is any indication - Ellis County seems to be experiencing an economic boom. A number of new small business have opened their doors in recent weeks.

Texas Taste Bar-B-Que in Ferris, Merryland II Chinese Buffet in Red Oak, Tri-Gas 6 (the new Wilmer Exxon and Sonic) and Ferris' Jacket Cheer Club are all new business opening just last weekend.

'The Texas manufacturing sector has performed well for more than a decade and continues to show job increases even in difficult economic times,' states the Texas Economic Development website.

'Texas has added more new manufacturing jobs since 1990 than any other state.'

While cities north of Dallas are experiencing lower growth, new homes are popping up across the county in towns such as Ovilla, Red Oak, and Ferris.
