DALLAS - Wick Allison, publisher of D Magazine, had kind words to say about a recent issue of The Ellis County Press.
'The tiny Ellis County Press, which I regard as DFW's best weekly newspaper, has TXU in its sights and hits the target with good points about deregulation (3rd, 4th, and 5th items down),' stated Allison about last week's deregulation analysis in the weekly FrontBurner, an online commentary among writers and editors.
D Magazine, with weekly newspaper The Dallas Observer, are considered the 'independent' publications in Dallas County. Writers investigate cases and report on stories not covered by The Dallas Morning News..
The deregulation piece by Joey Dauben and the articles by Jim Williams and Sherry Long about local cities and their fight against
power increases, highlighted the facts major newspapers and television networks haven't reported.
'The problem with higher utility bills isn't because of capitalism and deregulation,' Dauben said. 'More companies and more choices mean lower prices for consumers, but people can't choose if the large public utility companies own the lines. Sadly, this isn't being told, and that was the purpose of the articles.'
