RED OAK - MainBank on Interstate Highway 35 was robbed Tuesday, March 11 around noon, police officials said.
According to Red Oak Police Department Lt. Stephen Anderson, the suspect entered into the bank with a gun, and upon demanding money from clerks, fired the gun.
There were no injuries, according to Anderson.
After the shots were fired, Red Oak police said the suspect threw down the gun and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Witnesses said the suspect's vehicle resembled a four-door sedan, most likely a Toyota. The vehicle, according to police, had a possible Texas license plate number XXC-09T and bank customers reported the vehicle traveling south on the north I-35 service road.
County law enforcement officials have said the number of crimes is expected to increase due to the dismal economy.
Any persons with information regarding the robbery are urged to call the ROPD at 972-617-0023.
