Red Oak man shoots mother with BB gun

RED OAK - Shooting victim, Juana Escobar, 55 was treated and released Sunday at Lancaster Medical Center.

According to Ellis County Sheriff's department Escobar's 35-year-old son shot her in the chest with a BB gun, Sunday, March 2 at her home on Vincent Road in the Tanner's Farm area between Red Oak and Ferris.

The incident was not reported to officials until Escobar arrived for emergency care in Lancaster.

The son had fled the scene before officers arrived at the home.

At press time the shooter was still on the run.

Ellis County Sheriff Officer Lt. Danny Williams said, 'The son will be charged with assault-family violence.' The case has been turned over to investigators who are pursuing the assailant. Juana Escobar could not be reached for comment.
