LANCASTER - Lancaster police detectives arrested 53-year-old Robert Stuart of Waxahachie, Wednesday, Jan. 16 in connection with the theft of more than $20,000 worth of various metal parts from a company Stuart was supposed to protect.

The arrest was made at approximately 10 a.m. in the 2200 block of South Lamar Street in downtown Dallas while Stuart was unloading the parts into his pickup at a salvage yard.

The parts had been allegedly stolen from Hyco, a Lancaster manufacturing and fabrication company over the past three weeks while Stuart was on duty.

A Dallas Police Department detective noticed the parts at the salvage yard, some with the company's tags and wrappers still on them and contacted the company to inquire whether they had authorized the salvage sale.

Company representatives then contacted the Lancaster Police Department to report the theft. According to Lt. T.F. Selman of the LPD, the detective provided valuable information during the investigation and assisted in the arrest.
