FERRIS - Bulmaro (Bull) and Gail Villa, owners of Bea's Caf, will soon feel some relief for the first time since a fire broke out in the famous caf five weeks ago.
Rodney Barker, the loyal customer who instigated a highly successful fund raiser for the Villas, said his crews will begin work on the caf Wednesday, Sept. 5.
Barker said the state has okayed the work to begin, but there are still a few details to get finalized with the insurance company of the building owners, Lois and John Wills.
Asbestos testing has been the big hold-up, and Barker has found certified people to take care of the asbestos in the roof and a small bathroom in the kitchen area.
Still, Barker said, there was a 10-business-day waiting period requiring no work be done until then. Sept. 4 will be the 10th day, he said.
He plans to begin on the roof and new dropped ceilings, while Bull, Gail and all the volunteers who have been standing by, begin the clean up, repairs and painting.
