Waxahachie passes impact fees

WAXAHACHIE - A new impact fee plan for future capital improvements was approved by the Waxahachie City Council, Monday, Aug. 20.
An impact fee will be charged on new building permits, based on the size of the water meter to be installed.
The additional monies will be used to offset the cost of water and sewer improvements the city said it needs to accommodate future growth.
Those who agreed the city needed the fees stressed the importance of long-time Waxahachie residents not being burdened to pay for these improvements.
Homebuilders said they were concerned the additional fees would have an inflation affect on the city and possibly discourage future businesses from building.
The rate fees will go into effect on Sept. 21.
