FERRIS - The Main Street Association will hold a Brick Festival on April 28 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

'With backing from the council, we can get some recognition for the city,' said Main Street Director Marietta Allen at a Ferris council meeting on Feb. 5.

The festival theme is 'The City that Bricked the World.'

'This will be an annual event,' Allen said. 'We'll be building on it.'

The organization hopes to have Ferris approved as a National Main Street City in the future.

'With that, engineers and architects will come back to our city and give us some more help,' said Allen.

Allen asked the council to think about the festival and be ready to review further information about it at the next council meeting.

She also indicated association members are available to help the city with beautification and other improvements. 'We are ready and willing to help,' she said.
