Waxahachie man shot in escalated argument

WAXAHACHIE - An early morning argument escalated into a shooting that sent a 28-year-old man to Baylor Medical Center with a .22 caliber gunshot wound to the stomach.

Ray Branch, 40, of Waxahachie was arrested, jailed and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after the shooting at a residence in the 400 block of East Main.

The victim underwent emergency surgery and was listed in stable condition.

Husband throws wife's dog through window

WAXAHACHIE - Police arrested a Waxahachie man for cruelty to animals after he reportedly threw his wife's little dog through their living room window during a domestic disturbance.

According to a report filed with the Waxahachie Police Department, the woman told officers her husband had thrown the dog through the window, breaking the glass. Officers reportedly found lacerations on the dog's stomach.

The manreportedly told police he had kicked the animal.

The incident reportedly occurred at the Grand Avenue Estates mobile hom park in the 300 block of North Grand at 7:50 p.m. Jan. 14.
