FERRIS - Ellis County Justice of the Peace Curtis Polk said he was awaiting a report from the Dallas County medical examiner's office as of press time in determining the cause of death in the case of five-month old Delanni Nature Finch of 311 N. Wood St.

Polk said the baby and mother, Shannon Fuller, 21, were at the home of a friend at 104 Mable St. when the Ferris Police Department received a 911 emergency phone call Saturday at 5:42 a.m.

Polk said paramedics found the infant unresponsive. He said he was summoned to the scene where he pronounced her dead at 6:45 a.m.

Polk said possible cause of death could have been sudden infant death syndrome.

He said he saw no bruises or marks on the body.

Polk said the baby had been very ill from an infection.

He said she had also been suffering from pneumonia and anemia.

Polk said the infant had medical problems and had been hospitalized for two months since her birth May 8 of this year.

He said FPD had taken statements from Fuller.

Services were pending with Green Funeral Home.
