FERRIS - A Cash and Mail Emporium, 209/211 W. Sixth St., has had a few of false alarms from their security system since Teresa Schiffer and Melanie Queen opened their business nine months ago.
Last Friday at approximately 9 p.m. was no false alarm.
In fact, Schiffer said the act didn't even set off the alarm because the subject didn't touch the rear gate to the property.
However, a table saw was taken from just outside the rear of the dark green-colored building next to the side alley.
Schiffer said she had the whole thing on video, including the person's truck, from their 24-hour surveillance cameras positioned on the outside of the building.
'That was stupid, everybody knows that's the best guarded building around here,' said Tia Wright of the Ellis County Press offices next door.
Schiffer said she was willing to give the subject a benefit of the doubt since the table saw was next to the alley near a trash bin.
She said the person could have presumed someone was setting the saw there to be discarded as trash.
Schiffer said they had simply forgotten to bring the saw indoors after using it earlier Friday.
She said if the saw was returned she would not prefer criminal charges against the person.
If the saw wasn't returned soon, Schiffer said she was going to circulate an enlarged photo from the video showing the subject and his vehicle.
