Ferris City Council voted unanimously to authorize the City to receive sealed bids for street improvements Phase II and IV in their meeting on Monday, July 3, 2000. The bid process had previously been delayed pending receipt of information from the engineer for the project, Mark Hill of Hunter and Associates. The project is currently about three months behind schedule.
'I hope we have the streets out for bid this coming month,' said Mayor Birdwell during Monday's meeting. 'Seems the engineer has been dragging his feet. We tell people we're going to fix the streets, and they're not fixed yet, and people keep asking us, ‘When are you going to fix the streets?''
Council Member Jim Parks moved that the Council set the deadline for the bids at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2000. Bids must be in a sealed envelope and must be addressed to the Mayor and City Council of the City of Ferris, 100 Town Plaza, Ferris, Texas 75125. Mayor Birdwell called for the vote, indicating that all in favor should say 'Aye.' After the vote, Chief of Police Jeff Cottongame voiced his approval by calling out 'Aye!' from the back of the room.
In a separate action, the City Council authorized the City to receive bids for the TCDP 1999 Funds Water Line Project until 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2000. Bids must be sealed and must be addressed to the Mayor and City Council of the City of Ferris, 100 Town Plaza, Ferris, Texas 75125.
