ENNIS - Bonnie Toney, 22, of Ennis was being held in the Ellis County Jail for her alleged involvement in what police determined was a strong-armed robbery.

Although no weapon was used, Detective Ron Roark of the Ennis Police Department said Pablo Chavez, 28, of Ennis was approached by Toney after leaving McClain Food Store, 301 W. Brown St., about a block from the police station, Monday, May 22 at 9:30 p.m.

According to reports, Chavez said Toney, an African-American female, while accompanying him, waved to an African-American male said to be in his early 20s.

The unidentified man took Chavez's wallet with an undetermined amount of cash.

Both Toney and the other suspect fled.

Chavez ran after Toney, apprehending her.

He said he felt 'it was a set-up deal' by the two suspects.

Police had not made an arrest of the male suspect.

Roark said they were still trying to identify him.
