DALLAS – Due to a revised schedule, previously scheduled lane closures for this week on the project to widen the direct connect ramp from I-20 eastbound to I-45 northbound have been changed.

Weather permitting, the Texas Department of Transportation will close the direct connect ramp from eastbound I-20 to northbound I-45 on Wednesday, June 13  from 9 p.m. through 6 a.m. the next morning. All lanes of I-45 will remain open.

The lane closure scheduled for this Thursday night has been moved to next week. On Monday, June 18, beginning at 9 p.m. through 6 a.m. the next morning these lanes will be closed:

  • Northbound I-45 mainlanes at I-20
  • Eastbound I-20 direct connect ramp to northbound I-45
  • Northbound I-45 ramp to westbound I-20
  • Southbound I-45 ramp to eastbound I-20

All detours will be marked and motorists are encouraged to follow the detour signage. Portable changeable message boards have been placed to notify the public, and police officers will assist with traffic control. Delays are expected and motorists are strongly encouraged to use alternate routes to destinations in and through this area.

Austin Bridge and Road, LP is the contractor on this project that will enhance traffic flow in this area with the widening of the direct connect ramp from eastbound I-20 to northbound I-45. This $5.6 million bridge widening project began in January and is expected to be complete in the winter of 2013.

TxDOT would like to thank area drivers for their patience and cooperation as crews work diligently to complete this project as safely and as soon as possible.
