MESQUITE/SUNNYVALE  – Due to inclement weather last week the closure of SH 352 (Collins Road) has been rescheduled to begin Monday.

Weather permitting; TxDOT will close SH 352 (Collins Road) between the east and westbound frontage roads beginning at 9 a.m. Monday morning, Jan. 16, through 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20. The closure is necessary to work on the Collins Road portion of the U.S. 80/Collins Road interchange.

Throughout the week, there will be multiple detours utilized on the project.  Please see below for the list of detours each direction of traffic will be required to use throughout the week.

Northbound Collins Road:

  • Northbound Collins Road traffic will be diverted to the eastbound U.S. 80 frontage road to East Fork Road where traffic will be directed by signs to cross over U.S. 80 onto the westbound frontage road back to northbound Collins Road.

  • Traffic on the westbound U.S. 80 frontage road wanting to turn onto northbound Collins Road will have to continue west to northbound Belt Line Road then turn east onto Tripp Road and back to northbound Collins Road.

Southbound Collins Road:

  • Southbound Collins Road traffic will be diverted to the westbound U.S. 80 frontage road to Belt Line Road, cross under U.S. 80 and then travel east on the eastbound frontage road back to southbound Collins Road.

  • Southbound lanes of Collins Road approaching U.S. 80 will be detoured west on Tripp Road, then south on Belt Line Road back to U.S. 80.

Westbound U.S. 80 Frontage Road:

  • Traffic on the westbound frontage road wanting to turn onto northbound Collins Road will have to continue west to northbound Belt Line Road then turn east onto Tripp Road and back to northbound Collins Road.

Eastbound U.S. 80 Frontage Road:

  • Traffic on the eastbound frontage road wanting to turn onto northbound Collins Road will be diverted to continue on the eastbound U.S. 80 frontage road to East Fork Road where traffic will be directed by signs to cross over U.S. 80 onto the westbound frontage road back to northbound Collins Road.

This is the last traffic switch that will be needed on the $24.9 million project to re-construct the interchange at U.S. 80 and Collins Road. The project began in January 2009 is expected to be complete by April.

TxDOT would like to thank area drivers for their continued patience and cooperation as crews work diligently to complete this vital project as soon, and as safely, as possible.
