School board trustee arrested

AVALON -  Avalon Independent School Board Trustee Kevin McCulloch, 38, was arrested by the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office on a warrant for sexual assault of a child on Wednesday, Nov. 30.

According to a news release issued by the ECSO, the arrest stemmed from an investigation into allegations about McCulloch having sexual relations with someone under the age of 17. Due to the seriousness of the allegations, the name of the child is not being released in effort to protect the victim.

McCulloch, a resident of Ennis, was arraigned by Ellis County Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Steve Eagan with a bond set at $75,000. He has since posted bond and was released from the Wayne McCollum Detention Center in Waxahachie and awaiting to be heard in court.

Avalon ISD hasn’t returned a reply comment as of press time.
