WAXAHACHIE- The city of Waxahachie and Texzon Utilities Ltd. are  launching a new program, CitizenPower, available to all residents. The CitizenPower program provides low energy rates, while at the same time providing needed revenue for city services.

Texzon’s program will enable residents to receive highly competitive electrical rates from established providers. This partnership comes at a time when many cities are looking for creative new ways to produce revenue while providing services to residents.  Under this program, a portion of every kilowatt-hour used by residents will be paid to the city.

Texzon/City Energy Group is licensed with the Public Utility Commissions of Texas, Pennsylvania, Ohio and New Jersey and has established marketing agreements with most of the major energy companies across the nation, helping thousands of residents and businesses lower their rates.

“The CitizenPower program is tailor made for cities,” states Texzon CEO and Waxahachie resident Steve Wilson.

Texon, founded in Waxahachie in 2002, started brokering electricity in the deregulated markets before being named as one of the “Hot 100” fastest growing businesses in America by Entrepreneur Magazine.

“It offers citizens real value – lower utility rates – while also providing a way to give back to the community. The best part is that it doesn’t cost citizens anything extra.

In fact, with many providers competing for the lowest rate, both the citizens and the city win.”

City officials agree that the partnership is beneficial to both residents and the city.

“The CitizenPower program offers low energy rates, and can help many of our residents and businesses save money,” said  City Manager Paul Stevens.

“The fact that a portion also comes back to help fund city services makes the program a win-win situation.”

City Energy Group offers energy rates from multiple providers rather than representing one single energy provider. For additional information on the program and how to sign up, go to http://www.cityenergygroup.com/waxahachie.
