Traffic detoured to frontage road

DALLAS COUNTY – Weather permitting, the Texas Department of Transportation is allowing the closure of westbound Interstate 30 mainlanes just east of Bass Pro Drive to just west of Zion Road beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, through 4 a.m. Monday, Oct.17, 2011.

The closure is necessary for the safety of the traveling public as the contractor places steel bridge beams for the President George Bush Turnpike direct connector across I-30.

Motorists traveling westbound on I-30 will be directed to exit atBass Pro Driveonto the frontage road and will return to I-30 westbound mainlanes at the entrance ramp west ofZion Road. Message boards announcing the lane closures have been placed in advance to notify motorists.

This work is part of the $1 billion President George Bush Turnpike Eastern Extension project that connects I-30 to the existing PGBT. TxDOT is managing construction of the new Lake Ray Hubbard bridge and I-30 interchange which are scheduled for completion by late summer of 2012.

TxDOT and Austin Bridge and Road, LP would like to thank area drivers, local businesses and municipalities for their continued patience and cooperation as crews work hard to complete this project as soon, and as safely, as possible.
