On March 11, investigators with the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office arrested Bruce Hacker, a 72-year-old white male from Ovilla,  for Practicing Medicine in Violation of Subtitle, a 3rd degree Felony.

Sheriff’s Investigators were initially notified by the employees of a business in the 400 Block of North 8th Street in Midlothian of a suspicious person contacting the business claiming to be a doctor.

Investigation into the identity of the suspicious person led authorities to Hacker, who has not had a license to practice medicine since the early 1990’s.

Investigators conducted a sting operation at the business in cooperation with the business owner, and were able to arrest Hacker after he identified himself as a medical doctor to an undercover deputy, and attempted to treat the undercover deputy for a medical problem.

Hacker remains jailed at the Wayne McCollum Detention justify in Waxahachie.  He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Curtis Polk, who set Hacker’s bond at $20,000.00.

Any other persons who have come into contact with Hacker are encouraged to call the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office Crimes Against Persons Unit at 972-825-4913 or call 972-937-6060.
