2 arrested in counterfeiting investigation

RED OAK – Following an investigation which started in December 2009, the Red Oak Police Department initiated a criminal investigation into counterfeiting U.S. Currency after two local businesses received counterfeit bills.

The Red Oak Police Department identified the person counterfeiting the currency as Troy Dean Borth, 41, of Dallas.

On Friday, Feb. 26, Red Oak Police Department Detectives Flores and Dollar along with members of the U.S. Secret Service, Texas Rangers, Midlothian Police Department, and Dallas Police Department executed a search warrant on Borth’s residence in the 900 block of Everts Street, Dallas.

During the search of the residence numerous items of evidentiary value where seized.

Borth was taken into custody and brought to Lew Sterrett Justice Center where he will be charged with counterfeiting U.S. Currency and counterfeiting government identification documents.
