WAXAHACHIE – Sheriff Johnny Brown’s deputies will be driving around in style.
Brown, a Midlothian Republican first elected last fall, sought commissioners court approval for a $26,315 Ford F-150 pickup, loaded with a $660 Lariat Plus package includes leather cooled and heated seats, a $291 tailgate step.
The 2010 model was black and would be used by Brown and his deputies, but the sheriff said nothing was done unethically or wrong when he bought the truck.
Kaufman-based Murrey Ford also employs one of Browns deputies, Matt Murrey, who directs the Ellis County Sheriffs Office Explorer program.
