WAXAHACHIE – Sheriff Johnny Brown defended his department’s traffic enforcement of big rigs, tractor-trailers and pickups with trailers Friday, Nov. 6 and denied they were "checkpoints."
Brown, a Midlothian Republican first elected last fall, said deputies were out in full force on Interstate Highway 35, 45 and Highway 287 pulling over trucks, cargo trailers and other big-duty vehicles for "traffic infractions."
Several defense lawyers in Waxahachie decried the use of the traffic stops as unconstitutional.
