A fatal two-vehicle accident Tuesday, Nov. 3, at the intersection of Ferris Road and FM 664 in Ferris caused both lanes of traffic to be closed on Ovilla Road for more than two and a half hours. The accident occurred when a four-door sedan reportedly failed to stop and yield right-of-way to an oncoming dump truck and was T-boned on the driver’s side killing the driver. A female companion was transported to Charlton Methodist by CareFlite. The victim’s identities have not been released. Local resident Harold Jones, who lives by the intersection, pleads for something to be done in order to prevent future accidents. According to Jones, other wrecks have taken place at this location, with three prior fatalities occurring due to the lack of warning signs. Jones has attempted to make contact with Bill Pierce, the Ellis County Area Engineer for the Texas Department of Transportation, in order to begin a campaign to do something about "this dangerous spot," but has been unsuccessful so far.
