Milestone reached on sub courthouse located in Ennis
A
milestone will be reached tomorrow morning when contractors will pour the
concrete foundation for the Ellis
County sub courthouse
located in Ennis.
“This
is very exciting for everyone,” said County Judge Carol Bush, adding that
she plans to be at the site at 9 a.m. on Wednesday in honor of the occasion.
Ground
was broken for the facility in October 2008, with Ennis Mayor Russell Thomas as
the featured speaker.
“Our court listened to us – they heard our
cry and respected our desire for services,” said Thomas
“They allocated funds out of the general budget and guaranteed that this
facility would be built.”
Thomas
spoke highly of the building’s architectural firm, Architexas, as well.
“The
building is going to be beautiful – first class,” he said.
“It will be everything Ennis deserves.”
The
building will serve as the primary office location for Judge Bill Woody,
Justice of the Peace, pct. 1 and Ben Fry, Constable, pct. 1.
A
number of other county officials will have satellite offices there as well,
including County Judge Carol Bush, County Clerk Cindy Polley, and Tax
Assessor-Collector John Bridges, along with Veterans’ Services, Adult
Probation, and Indigent Health Care.
“I
am looking forward to sharing in this beautiful facility,” said
Bush. “This is really a first-rate facility that is designed
entirely with the needs of the community in mind; and, the people of the
community are going to enjoy it for years to come.”
Bush
said thanks were due to County Commissioner Dennis Robinson, pct. 1, County
Commissioner Bill Dodson, pct. 2, Judge Woody, and County Engineer Joe White
among others.
“Really,
I am in danger of leaving someone out, as there have been so many key players
on this project,” she added.
“This has been a true team
effort from the very beginning.”
