Representative Davis elected to DNC Executive Committee

Representative for District 111 Yvonne Davis, a member of the Democratic
National Committee was elected to the DNC 64-member Executive Committee by the
Southern Caucus. The DNC held its three day fall meeting Sept. 10-12 in
Austin.
The
Southern Caucus elected four new members to the Executive Committee. The
Executive Committee of the DNC oversees affairs and sets policies of the
National Democratic Party. The Southern Caucus includes DNC members from
Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North
Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia.
Noting
recent gains by the Democratic Party in the Texas Legislature and in Dallas
County, Rep. Davis said, “It is my goal to provide a strong voice that brings a
Southern perspective to the DNC Executive Committee to ensure that we promote
the Democratic Party at every level of our political system. The South played a
key role in the resurgence of the Democratic Party on a national level. This
success can only be sustainable with increasing emphasis given to building and
encouraging participation at the local and block level of every city.”
