ELLIS COUNTY - Waxahachie,Garrett, Ferris and Ennis police departments along with the Ellis County Sheriff's Office, State parole and Terry Nay's Precinct 2 constable office joined forces June 16 checking up on local registered sex offenders.

The team, organized by ECSO Investigator Amy Ellison, conducted 55 house checks.

"These house checks ensure that local sex offenders are in compliance with State Sex Offenders Laws and ensures that our citizens are given accurate information about these offender's locations, as well as other pertinent information required to be on file," said Sheriff Johnny Brown.

The conducted checks lead to the discovery of six offenders that had provided inaccurate information or had absconded.

Those cases may result in criminal charges filed against them and remain under investigation by their respected agencies.

The team meets once a month to ensure Ellis County residents safety.
