FERRIS – A unique visitor came by The Ellis County Press office last week.

A racing pigeon, released the previous Saturday was found on the front dock by an ECP employee.

Misty Clark, Ferris Animal Control officer, picked up the pigeon and found it was member of the American Racing Pigeon Union.

He was released from Claude, Texas for a race to Houston of 570 miles.

Clark contacted the club and was told a lot of pigeons got misguided during the storms. He suggested feeding it for a few days and give it water and then allow the bird to sit outside in the carrier to find the sun, then release it in three days.

Clark said she was emailing the club to see if the pigeon made it home.
