Marine teaches American style cooking to Japanese children

Marine Cpl. Raymond Vanwey, a native of Ferris and 2005 graduate of Ferris High School, recently demonstrated American style cooking to Japanese children at the Yahata Gakuen foster home in Hiroshima, Japan. Vanwey serves as the assistant deputy family readiness officer for Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 12 located on Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan. As a family readiness officer, Vanwey regularly sets up cultural exchange events as well as a variety of other duties related to maintaining troop welfare. Vanwey has honorably served in the Marine Corps for more than three years, serving nearly one and a half of it in Iwakuni. Raymond is the son of Rex and Martha Vanwey.
