FERRIS – The city’s finance director was fired Friday, Nov. 7 shortly after giving a deposition in a sexual harassment lawsuit against the City of Ferris.
The city council upheld City Manager David Chavez’ decision to fire Elizabeth Sanders Saegert for "lack of confidence," according to a special called meeting Monday, Nov. 10.
The lawsuit against the city was filed when Chavez’ predecessor, Gus Pappas, was employed with the city.
Saegert, a certified public accountant from the Limestone County town of Mexia, could not be reached for comment but her lawyer requested Ferris’ city council read off a roll call vote after Monday’s meeting.
Councilman Rick Barrett made the motion to uphold the firing, followed by Gary Ross’ second. The mayor, Jim Parks, did not vote.
