IH 35 frontage road permanently converted to one-way in Red Oak

May 15th, 2008

ADVERTISEMENTS

Interstate Highway 35E frontage Roads between Parkerville Road in DeSoto and U.S. 77 south of Red Oak will be permanently converted to one-way operation beginning Tuesday, May 27 at 9 a.m.

The change will involve re-striping the pavement and placing additional signs to alert and direct motorists to the new, one-way condition. Operations will begin with the west frontage road

(southbound) and upon completion will proceed to the east frontage road (northbound).
It is expected that each roadway will take a full day to convert.

This is an important part of the project as it will improve the safety along the frontage roads at the ramp junctures and access points. It is also appropriate to make this conversion now as we begin opening new ramps in their ultimate configurations. Both frontage roads will be switched to one-way traffic operation at the same time to minimize confusion and to help drivers get acclimated to the new traffic pattern.

Please assist me in spreading the word about this upcoming traffic change.

Sincerely,

Bill Pierce, P.E.

Ellis County Area Engineer

Texas Department of Transportation
