WAXAHACHIE - Ellis County Art Association presents the 3nd Annual “Paint Historic Waxahachie!”

Beginning May 30 and continuing through June 8, more than 35 of Texas’ finest landscape artists will be painting en plein aire throughout historic Waxahachie, Texas.

A plein aire event, commonly referred to as a “paint out”, is an interactive encounter with art and artists, connecting the public with painters in the painting process.

The French phrase, ‘en plein aire’, has the literal translation  "in the open air." and describes paintings created “in the moment”, start to finish, in an outdoor location.

Come witness the dynamic painting competition and art event that is "Paint Historic Waxahachie!"

Explore one of the most picturesque towns in Texas while interacting with some of the state’s top plein air painters.

At the end of the paint out week, an exhibition and “wet paint” sale of more than 100 paintings created during the 10-day paint out period is presented to the community.

The exhibition and sale is 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.,  June 7 and 8 in the historic Chautauqua Auditorium at Getzendaner Park in Waxahachie, Texas.

The event is free with a portion of sales benefiting Ellis County Fine Art Museum.
