                FERRIS – A routine traffic stop turned into a short-lived get-away.

Angel LaShell Jones of Arlington was pulled over on a traffic stop on Interstate Highway 45 April 29, but when FPD Officer LaRell Tolbert started questioning about her speed, Jones pulled off.

“A short pursuit ensued,” stated a FPD press release issued May 6. “The suspect exited toward Beltline Road in Wilmer. She attempted to drive her vehicle across a field at that location, but became stuck in the mud. Officers took the female into custody for evading detention. During a subsequent investigation and search, the officers discovered $1,200 in currency, more than 360 pills of suspected Ecstasy, and 22 pills of Xanax. The officers also discovered $280 in counterfeit bills. Jones was additionally charged with possession of controlled substance.”

The counterfeit bills, according to the FPD, will be turned over to the U.S. Secret Service for their investigation.
