Baylor University’s Hankamer School of Business Ranks No. 3 in Nation for Entrepreneurship

WACO, Texas (Sept. 22, 2011) - The undergraduate entrepreneurship program at Baylor University’s Hankamer School of Business is ranked No. 3 in the country from among more than 2,000 schools surveyed by The Princeton Review for Entrepreneur Magazine.

“The continued high ranking of our entrepreneurship program is a testament to our faculty who promote the highest standards of scholarship and instill in our students the skills and knowledge they need to succeed,” said Terry S. Maness, D.B.A., dean of the Hankamer School of Business.

The eighth annual ranking reveals the nation’s top 25 undergraduate and top 25 graduate programs for entrepreneurship. School were evaluated based on teaching entrepreneurship business fundamentals in the classroom, staffing departments with successful entrepreneurs, excellence in mentorship, providing experiential or entrepreneurial opportunities outside of the classroom, as well as non-traditional, distinguishable aspects of the program.

“We are very pleased that our entrepreneurship program continues to be recognized among the elite entrepreneurship programs in the world,” said Kendall Artz, Ph.D., professor of management and entrepreneurship, director of the Baylor Entrepreneurship Program and chairman of the department of management and entrepreneurship at Baylor University.

Entrepreneur magazine’s ranking is particularly meaningful, as their evaluation process considers not just program reputation, but instead a wide range of objective data that assesses program breadth, depth and impact.”

The Baylor entrepreneurship program, one of the oldest programs of its kind in the nation, provides students at the undergraduate and graduate level, with a high-quality education. The department has nationally recognized faculty in strategic management, organizational behavior, human resource management, entrepreneurship, operations and international business.

Students majoring in entrepreneurship generally aspire to start or secure employment in a business having high growth-potential. The major assists students in identifying viable career options in entrepreneurship, expanding their basic knowledge of the entrepreneurial process and developing a repertoire of venture management skills. A major emphasis of the program involves contact with successfully practicing entrepreneurs and on-site business consulting.
