FERRIS – Ferris Municipal Court Clerk Loretta Johnson was fired Tuesday, Aug. 30 after a year of ongoing warnings from Finance Director Melissa Garcia and City Manager Eric Strong.

According to Johnson’s disciplinary actions filed with the city, she has had four write ups of misconduct issued within the past year including two issues of leaving money out and unsecure at the end of the work day.

On write up continues to state, “Recently it was discovered that you inputted a warning into the computer as an actual ticket.

“This eventually caused a warrant to be issued for someone which never should have been issued. As a result, the defendant has paid for an appearance bond and is now out of money over the mistake you [Johnson] made.”

After several written and verbal warnings, as well as being placed on suspension, Johnson continued to violate her job commitment.

Johnson began her job with the city on June 4, 2007. The city is currently searching for a new clerk.
