City improves sidewalk due to safety concerns

Sidewalk Construction Began on 5th Street in Ferris Friday, Aug. 26. “Due to safety concerns, we went ahead and decided to fix the sidewalk,” said City Manager Eric Strong. The city has been turned down for grants several years in a row to repair the sidewalks. “If we get the grant, we will be re-doing the rest of the sidewalks on 5th Street as well.” The cost to the city to tear out the entire section of sidewalk and replace it is $9,000.
