The Mid-Way Regional Airport Board of Directors has announced that Airport Manager Andy Biery has resigned.  Biery has served as Airport Manager since March of 2009.

During his tenure as Airport Manager, Biery helped to oversee the facility’s recent runway expansion, which expanded the runway to 6,500 feet in length. The new runway allows for larger aircraft to use the Mid-Way Airport. Biery also made a reality the current Terminal renovation project that is scheduled to be completed in December 2011. He was also instrumental in initiating the process to update the Airport’s Capital Improvement Program.

“Andy has been a tremendous asset to the Airport and in furthering the goals of both cities and the Airport Board.  Andy is certainly leaving both communities with an Airport that is positioned for a bright future.  I appreciate Andy’s dedication and hard work and wish him the very best,” said Michael Scott, Waxahachie’s Assistant City Manager.

Biery will continue his position through September 9. The Airport’s Board of Directors will soon begin a formal search for a new Airport Manager. The position will include responsibilities such as overseeing capital improvements to the airport, managing daily operations, executing Board policies and decisions, and other duties as assigned.

“The success of Mid-Way Regional Airport for the next twenty years is a direct result of the thoughtful hard work that Andy has put in over the last two-and-a-half years.  He has been a great team player with the Board, helping to establish the airport as a catalyst for Economic Development for both Waxahachie and Midlothian,” said Paula Baucum, Chairman of the airport’s Board of Directors.

Mid-Way Regional Airport opened in October 1992 as a joint venture between the cities of Midlothian and Waxahachie in an effort to serve the rapidly

growing area.
