ELLIS COUNTY – Former Vintage Bank Owner/Manager Ted Smith passed away Saturday, July 16 at his home in Palmer at the age of 84.

“Everyone here and in the community is tremendously saddened to hear of his passing,” said Vintage Bank Chairman and CEO Jeff Frazier.

If you were in the banking community or you held accounts at Commercial State Bank, Heritage Bank or Vintage bank, you probably had seen Smith at some point in his career. “He was a great person and businessman,” said Frazier.

Born and raised in Palmer, after graduating Palmer High School, Smith served in the Merchant Marines and the United States Army.

Before Smith got into the banking business, he worked in the insurance industry for more than 20 years.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be sent on Smith’s behalf to the Cowboy Church of Ellis County, 2374 West Highway 287 Bypass, Waxahachie, TX 75167 or The Golden Circle, P.O. Box 547, Ennis, TX 75120.

“Ted had a tremendous impact on the community, anyone he came in contact with was a much better person,” said Frazier.

A memorial service will be held Friday, July 22 at 3 p.m. in Waxahachie at the Cowboy Church of Ellis County.
