Prayer event has moved from "showing up" to "showdown" says mega church pastor

“I was thrilled that Governor Perry would call a day of prayer at Reliant Stadium on August 6, 2011. This lawsuit attempting to bar Governor Perry from participating or even endorsing [the event] was filed by some of the same people who filed the lawsuit and forced the removal of the Bible outside the courthouse in Houston a few years ago. It's time to stop this nonsense. The best way is for all of us to show up in mass,” said Steve Riggle, Pastor of Grace Community Church and President of Grace International.

“This ought to motivate us to double our efforts and pack Reliant as well as have thousands in the streets outside. We finally say, ‘No More! We will not be pushed any further.’ It is absolutely imperative that we show up on this one. It may be our last chance. This is not just a showing up time for us, this is now a SHOWDOWN.” Riggle added.

“The purpose of the Response is II Chronicles 7:14: ‘If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land’ {American KJV},” stated Garrett Booth, Associate Senior Pastor of Grace Community Church, while instructing the congregation of thousands who are signing up daily committing to show up and pray on August 6th.

“At stake are our very freedoms. This has gone to a whole new level. Let's rise to this challenge and massively respond. Just maybe, this will spark a movement across this nation that will be a spiritual tsunami of genuine repentance and humble dependence as described in Joel 2, leading to another great awakening,” Riggle wrote in a letter to Pastors across the city of Houston and throughout the world through the Grace International Fellowship.
