LANCASTER – Due to the current drought conditions in and around Dallas County, a 90-day burn ban has been declared. This ban was made effective Tuesday, June 28 and encourages residents of cities within Dallas County to exercise caution due to a greater possibility of wild land fires.

Fireworks are not permitted within Lancaster city limits. Violations will result in a Class C misdemeanor and a $569 dollar fine in the city of Lancaster.

Other outdoor burning that has been banned includes trash in open piles, bon fires, and open acre fires.

For more information on the burn ban, please contact your local Fire department, the Dallas County Fire Marshal’s website at www.dallascounty.org/department/fire/home.html, or Community Relations for the City of Lancaster at 972-218-1300.
