Lancaster Legacy Day to be celebrated Saturday, July 9
LANCASTER (Texas) - On Saturday, July 9, 2011, Lancaster Legacy Day will be celebrated at several locations aroundHistoric Town Square from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Interurban Building-Visitors Center – The festivities get under way with the 100th anniversary of electricity being brought to the entire area and the opening of the Electric/Interurban Building which was in 1911.
The old building, now remodeled with a TxDOT Grant, was built of red brick made inFerrisTX, and is located at103 N. Dallas Ave. inLancaster on the rail tracks of the Texas Electric Railway.
A reception for dignitaries and the public will be at 10:30 a.m. in the building now housing theVisitorsCenter and Lancaster Chamber of Commerce, as well as aTexasStateAuxiliaryMuseum. Tours will be available.
“An Affair on the Square” – 2nd Saturday on the Square will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature arts and crafts vendors, food vendors, fresh produce vendors and live music. Members of the Lancaster Historic Society will be on hand to give guided tours of theHistoric Town Square.
“City Services Showcase” – will operate from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Heritage Park Gazebo just north of the Historic Town Square, and will provide residents information on Adopt-A-Pet Program, Fire Safety, Civic participation opportunities, Recreation Programs, Library Services, and more!
