MIDLOTHIAN - The Midlothian ISD Board met in a special called session on Monday, Feb. 1 and named Lee Wiginton as the new head football coach of the Midlothian Panthers.
Wiginton replaces Robbie Clark who announced his resignation.
Coach Wiginton graduated from Angelo State University with a bachelor of science degree in mathematics. He also received a CARR academic scholarship and played football for two years. Wiginton later earned his Masters in Educational Administration with a mid-management certification from Southwest Texas State University.
His 17-year coaching experience includes high schools in Bastrop, Bosqueville, Comfort, and Mexia. In 10 seasons as a head football coach, Coach Wiginton coached in 18 playoff games. Since 2000, Lee has received four "Co-Coach of the Year" and four "Coach of the Year" honors.
Athletic Director Steve Keasler states, "Lee Wiginton will be a great asset to our kids, staff and community. He is extremely enthusiastic and excited to be a part of Midlothian ISD. Lee is a perfect fit for our current situation here in Midlothian and will have a positive impact on the football program in grades 7-12."
Coach will be leaving Mexia High School as the head football coach to make his mark at Midlothian when released from his duties.
